Racing’s Global Elite - Competing on Kiwi Soil

Ten elite drivers. One unforgettable journey. A world title on the line.

The World Driving Championship 2025 is coming to New Zealand — and it’s set to deliver high-stakes harness racing across some of the country’s most iconic tracks. Hosted by Harness Racing New Zealand, this prestigious global event will take place in November, bringing together the very best in the sport from around the world.

Over 20 heats across five racecourses in both the North and South Islands, drivers will test their skills, tactics, and nerves as they battle it out for the title of World Champion. The Championship will be run in locations including Kaikoura, Cambridge, Christchurch’s Addington Raceway, and Winton, each offering its own unique atmosphere and challenges.

The drivers — each proudly wearing their country’s colours — will embark on an intense schedule of racing and events that reflect both fierce competition and international camaraderie.

Drivers are matched to horses through a random draw, ensuring a level playing field, and points are awarded based on race finishes. At the end of it all, one driver will stand above the rest as the 2025 World Driving Champion.

Off the track, the event is a celebration of the sport itself: fans, officials, and horsemen coming together in true international spirit. Whether you’re a passionate follower of harness racing or discovering the excitement for the first time, the World Driving Championship 2025 promises thrills, skill, and global sportsmanship on an epic New Zealand stage.
