Addington is New Zealand’s flagship harness racing venue, a 1193-metre grit track with world-class facilities.
It’s the home of the IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup, the Dominion, and countless Group races that define our sport.
Starting points include the famous 1980-metre and 2600-metre marks, producing some of the most memorable battles in harness racing history. The 1980-metre races begin at the start of the back straight, then it’s one lap to the finish. The 2600-metre start is at the top of the home straight. Horses pass the winning post first, before completing two full laps.

And of course, the famous 2-mile (3200m) start of the New Zealand Cup, one of the most iconic races in world harness racing
