Cambridge Raceway is steeped in history, from humble beginnings as a trotting club over a century ago it has built on its heritage and evolved into a multipurpose entertainment venue and the home of Harness racing in the Waikato.
Cambridge is a 1000-metre grit track in the heart of the Waikato.
It’s home to The Race, New Zealand’s richest harness event, carrying a million-dollar stake.
Starting points include the 1700-metre and 2200-metre marks, often producing close and tactical racing. The 1700-metre start is positioned down the back straight. From there it’s to the winning post, and then one lap. The 2200-metre races start on the front straight. Horses pass the winning post first, before completing two full laps.
Cambridge has become the stage for both established champions and emerging stars.
